Yes, yes… I’ve jumped on the Hunger Games bandwagon and am loving every moment of it.
Something I’ve noticed while reading the books was the amazing descriptions of the food—not only from the capitol but also the food from the other districts. And looking at the amount of food blogs covering the Hunger Games, it looks like I was not the only one who noticed! (Not gonna lie, Katniss’s favorite dish at the capitol—lamb stew with plums—sounds so yummy!)
But even better, the World Food Program and the makers of the Hunger Games movie have teamed up to help fight hunger in the world.
This makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside!

On my way back home for the holidays my flight was delayed by a few hours—nothing too bad… just two and a half hours. In exchange for the “inconvenience” I received a $15 voucher to use at any of the airport restaurants.
(As a frequent flyer with the airline, I also received a free upgrade to business class so I wasn’t going to complain too much.)
And so with the $15 voucher in hand, I wandered around Dulles
1. trying to find a place that was open that early, and
2. had half decent food.
If only I had known about this amazing list that the folks over at Eater had put together… As it is, I ended up eating at Harry’s Tap Room—a credible #2 on the list, topped only by Five Guys—so I didn’t do too badly for myself.
But just in case, for next time, I’m linking the lists for Dulles AND Reagan here:

oxox
Happy eating and safe travels!

This is something I’ve always wanted to try…. but have been too much of a wuss to actually do it. Perhaps this year?
Most likely not… but a girl can dream.
Oh! Also, the best line from this article? “Run your blade flat along the seam, in a straight line up, striking the neck ring forcefully (and simultaneously shrieking “Sauve qui peut!”).” (Emphasis added)
At Washington Dulles International Airport. Where is everyone traveling to today?
As materialistic as I am, this is a wonderful gift idea.
Side Note: I’m particularly a big fan of Doctors Without Borders. Back when I wanted to be a doctor (oh, who am I kidding, I still want to be a doctor…), I dreamed of joining MSF. And to be truthful, it’s in part because of Daniel Henny in the Korean drama, Kim Samsoon. In the show, Daniel Henny’s character leaves the love of his life to go work with MSF… I mean, COME ON! Hot doctors that want to help the world?! *swoon*

The Buddhist executive sous-chef helps the Jewish rabbis kosher the White House kitchen in preparation for Hanukkah celebrations at the Christian President’s home.
Kind of awesome, not gonna lie.
Here are two great links describing the process:
